Brett Stoelker is not a bot. @C19VaxxUpdates, the Twitter account that has been helping its more than 100K followers find and book Covid-19 vaccine appointments in New Jersey, may seem like an automated account cranking out thousands of available vaccine announcements, but behind the scenes are real life people sharing the news.

Stoelker is a South Jersey actor who was touring with Les Miserables when the pandemic hit. When he found himself still out of work in January, he started the twitter account @C19VaxxUpdates to help people in New Jersey find and book vaccine appointments. Since then, he’s partnered with individual volunteers and organizations to keep the feed constantly updated with appointment availability, eligibility requirements and sign-up instructions for vaccine clinics around the state. The account also provides links for frequently updated Covid-19 announcements, useful information and a master list of vaccine locations.
