All of the wildlife at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge deserve a wonderful home to live out their lives and educate visitors about the animals living nearby – but they can’t do that without a little help. Check out 3 (super cute, in our humble opinion) animals you can adopt at the refuge.
Ember, the red fox
Arrival date: March 2022
Why Ember is here: Ember was found orphaned in Cookstown and came in with a fractured leg. She can’t run long distances without weakness, which is required for her to survive in the wild and hunt effectively.
Why donate? Ember is not yet out in the Wildlife Housing Area, you can donate to her enclosure to help build her a new home.

Mike & Ike, the eastern gray squirrels
Arrival date: Nov. 2017
Why Mike & Ike are here: Mike & Ike are littermates and are imprinted on humans, which means they are used to people and would not survive in the wild. (And Mike is missing part of his left ear)
Why donate? Help to support Mike & Ike during their stay at Cedar Run: providing food, shelter and more.

Phoebe Muffay, the striped skunk
Arrival date: May 2018
Why Phoebe is here: Phoebe was born at a skunk breeding facility and had her scent glands removed prior to arriving at Cedar Run. She will now spend the rest of her life with Cedar Run as an ambassador for her species.
Why donate? Help to support Phoebe’s stay at Cedar Run: providing food, shelter, educational resources and more.

hoo-dini, Great Horned Owl
Arrival Date: 2010
Why hoo-dini is here: hoo-dini was found on the ground under his nest with a fractured left wing. The wing never recovered so he joined Cedar Run’s Education Team (he just retired!) where he got his name after “escaping” from his equipment during training.
Why donate? Help to support hoo-dini during his retirement at Cedar Run: providing food, shelter and more.
