Your first thought when you hear the words “art park” and “winter” might be an immediate pass. But think again. There’s still fun to be had at Grounds For Sculpture.
Have you ever seen art in the snow?
We’re not saying we’re hoping for a snow day, but there’s nothing that makes the chilly temps worth it more than seeing our favorite works of art come to life in the snow. We highly recommend adding Grounds For Sculpture to your next snow day to-do list.
Brunch in a painting
Nestled in a picturesque pond-side landscape, across from a recreation of the famous Monet bridge, is the iconic Rat’s Restaurant, where you can dine on French cuisine (including weekend brunch!) while taking in the gorgeous, artistic views.
Family Open Studios
Grab the whole family and get hands-on with art during Grounds For Sculpture’s monthly Family Open Studios. Each month, the art park presents a craft for the whole family. The next installation is constructing paper rollercoasters on March 1. The session is free with admission and runs from 11 am to 3 pm.
Giving blood
There’s nothing like having a day of creativity and fun while also giving back. Grounds For Sculpture is hosting a blood drive on Feb. 22 to support the New York Blood Center. Participants will receive free admission and a complimentary coffee or hot chocolate. The event runs from 9 am to 3 pm, and registration is required.
Discounted admission
We love a deal – especially one that includes a full day of wandering around beautiful pieces of art. February is your last chance to get discounted admission ($15 for adults, $10 for students) to the art park.
It’s not all sculptures in the grass
Grounds For Sculpture is of course known for its larger-than-life and interactive sculptures scattered around the 42-acre park. But it also has an exhibit that explores the life of Seward Johnson and his passion for art as well as additional rotating exhibits all year long.
