Summer + The Garden State = our favorite time of the year. Check out some of the South Jersey restaurants making the most of those fresh flavors.
Medford
Every Wednesday and Thursday, ITA101 chef Kevin Maher prepares the greatest eating experience: a pasta tasting menu. Dig into pasta with fresh and local summer flavors (tomatoes, anyone?) like lobster ravioli and puff pastry with chicken pate, caramelized onion puree and la tur cheese.
Haddonfield
Gass & Main rotates their menu seasonally – they even had a Spring 2.0 menu last month – to share the funky takes on traditional fare that their chefs think up each month. Think Rhubarbbq Shrimp and a vegan S’mores Cookie Pie.
Moorestown
Harvest introduced their summer menu last month, featuring favorites like avocado-artichoke dip, street corn “ribs,” summer scallop and shrimp risotto and the Hawaiian nourish bowl.
Collingswood & Haddonfield
Whether you want to whip something up in your kitchen or opt for a chef-created dish to take home, Haddon Culinary has plenty of seasonal ingredients to work with. Try the mussels, pick up some New Jersey-shaped, locally-made pasta or try some of their unique dishes like blueberry maple sausage.
Hamilton
The Rat’s summer menu is basically a work of art – which is fitting since you’ll be dining with a literal sculpture park as your backdrop. Dig into mushroom, corn and tarragon pasta, roasted corn salad and more summer flavors while admiring the art just feet from your table.
Cherry Hill
Summer flavors like corn soup, watermelon and tomato salad and caramelized grilled scallops are back at Seasons52. And so are refreshing summer cocktails, including the cucumber basil smash and a watermelon margarita.
Cape May
Nothing says fresh summer flavors like eating dinner surrounded by the garden and farm where those fresh ingredients came from. Beach Plum Farm is putting their fresh produce to work with dishes like seasonal gazpacho, chicken salad sandwich and a meats and cheese board. And the view isn’t half bad, either.
