Still working out your summer plans? We’ve got some awesome ideas to get the fun started.
Go on a DIY Food Tour
Going out to lunch is fun, don’t get us wrong. But you know what’s really fun? Embarking on a 6 hour road trip through South Jersey to pick up a pork roll in Cherry Hill, followed by enjoying a cheesesteak from Donkey’s Place along the Camden waterfront, then heading down the Shore for a seafood tour and boardwalk funnel cake. Make sure to hit up your favorite diner on the way home for a milkshake and fries. You know… if you’re still hungry.

Float through the Pinelands
Grab your paddles and a kayak, canoe, paddle board — dealer’s choice — and float through the 938,000 acres of the New Jersey Pinelands. Explore waterways like the Mullica River, Batsto Lake or Wharton State Park on your own, or check out the many companies offering guided river tours lasting anywhere between 1 and 8 hours.
Take stargazing to the next level
There’s no shortage of amazing places to stargaze around South Jersey, but if you’re heading down the Shore, there’s a new celestial hotspot to check out: The top of the Cape May Lighthouse. There are only 3 more nights this whole summer when you can climb to the top of the Cape May Lighthouse – at night. Organizers have selected the dates – June 28, July 28 and August 27 – because they start a new lunar cycle and your chances of seeing lots of stars and constellations are the highest then. The special program is called “Stairway to the Stars” which makes total sense because you’ll have to climb the 199 steps to enjoy the starlit view.
Go Swimming With The Sharks
Next time you find yourself in Camden’s Adventure Aquarium’s shark exhibit (which is the largest collection of sharks in the Northeast, may we add) we dare you: Get in the tank. Seriously — the aquarium offers the opportunity to get in the water. With their Shark & Ray In-Water Encounter, you’ll get right in the water with sandbar, sand tiger and black tip sharks. We mean, so close you could touch them. (But please don’t.)
Go to the amusement park
Looking for a thrill? Clementon Park & Splash World is back and better than ever. Between the epic roller coasters and kid-friendly rides like a train and merry-go-round and even a waterpark, there’s something for everyone. Or head down the Shore to hop on a ride at Morey’s Piers or the classic Jolly Rodger Pier.
