The Ultimate South Jersey Guide for the New Year

2025 is our year…for lots of fun, at least. And it can be for you, too! Check out our guide to having a great 2025 – all year long.

January: fun on the inside
It’s cold, and we’re staying in…side that is. We’ll be filling our days trying new restaurants (so we know where to go for the rest of the year), taking cooking classes at local spots like In My Grandmother’s Kitchen (to bolster our kitchen skills) and learning as much as we can at South Jersey museums. Have you been to the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum?

February: love is in the air
Love doesn’t just happen on Valentine’s Day, so we’re taking this month to brush up on our date ideas – whether it’s just for two or for the whole family. That could mean trying the latest happy hour at Monterey Grill or taking the family to see turtles and sharks at Adventure Aquarium, or even taking a scenic train ride through Woodstown.

March: fake spring
Time to look forward to spending time outside just to have your plans pushed back by rain and wind chills. But that’s what back-up plans are for – and heavy coats. If you feel like braving the cold, take a walk through one of South Jersey’s many parks or visit the Cape May County Park & Zoo (it’s open year round!). And if you do want to stay inside, keep those January traditions alive with your trusted cold weather activities.

April: We’re outside!
The warm(ish) weather is here – finally! Want to plan an early trip to the beach? Do it. Want to walk through the cranberry bogs? Go for it. Want to look at art outside? Send us an invite.

May: Jersey fresh
Our favorite part of May is the return of the iconic South Jersey farmers’ markets. Your town probably has one – whether you know it or not – but some of our favorites are Burlington County Farmers Market and Collingswood Farmers Market. It’s the perfect time to try out some new recipes.

June: down the shore
The ocean is calling us – and we’re absolutely answering. Some of our go-to Jersey Shore activities (no, not gym, tan, laundry) are climbing the Absecon Lighthouse, lounging on the free Wildwood beaches, jamming out at the Barefoot Country Music Festival, snacking our way down the Ocean City Boardwalk and relaxing at the spa at Borgata Hotel & Casino.

July: take a break
What’s work? We’re taking any chance we can to get out of the office and have some South Jersey fun. We’re eating outside. We’re riding roller coasters for hours at Morey’s Piers. We’re finding new views hiking through the Pine Barrens (highly recommend Atsion Lake). We’re admiring the Philly skyline and learning some history aboard the Battleship New Jersey.

August: the last days of summer
Summer’s not over yet, and we’re going to make the most of it with trips to the lake, treks down the shore and days at the water park. And don’t forget to eat as much seafood as possible – Sweet Amalia’s in Newfield for oysters and SeaSalt at Ocean Club Hotel in Cape May for a seafood tower with an ocean view.

September: is that a pumpkin?
March is pretend spring, and September is pretend fall. So we’ve decided to just dive headfirst into the pumpkin spice season. Visits to our local farm – Johnsons Corner Farm in Medford is a favorite – finding any cafe, restaurant, dessert shop that has pumpkin-flavored treats.

October: spooky season
Get ready for Halloween with ghost tours, haunted hayrides and more spooky fun. Cape May is always a must this time of year for tours with a medium, trolley rides through the streets and historic haunts like the Emlen Physick Estate.

November: the holidays have arrived early
This is when we cram a month and a half of work into three weeks. Because once Thanksgiving rolls around, we’re calling it. But in between those tough hours, we’re fitting in our final visits of the year to the farmers markets, taking a few last-minute trips down the shore (love a chilly day bundled up on the beach) and cramming in all the South Jersey culture – Perkins Center for the Arts, Cape May’s Harriet Tubman Museum, Haddonfield’s Indian King Tavern Museum – that we can.

December: ’tis the season
Bring your Hallmark fantasies to life with streets decorated for the holidays, light shows and sweet flavors through the month. It’s time for watching live performances, hitting local shops for holiday shopping and drinking a ton of hot chocolate (maybe the boozy kind).
