Things to do in South Jersey this April

Ok….now hibernation is over. It’s time to go OUT! And there is plenty to be done right here in South Jersey. Check out the events you can’t miss this month. 

 

ReDiscovery Weekend 

April 3 & 4 

Time to get wild with Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge during a weekend packed with canoeing, wildlife meet and greets, glitter tattoos (Saturday only), food trucks, kids crafts and so much more. The fun runs from 10 am to 4 pm each day, check the website for a full schedule of events. 

 

Historic Candlelight Dinner 

April 8 

Celebrate America’s 250th with the Historical Society of Haddonfield during their 104th Candlelight Dinner hosted at Tavistock Country Club. Cocktail hour begins at 6 pm, with dinner at 7 pm and speaker Will Krakower from Princeton Battlefield State Park at 8 pm. Tickets cost $100 and include soup, salad and an entree. Renaissance Faire 

April 11 & 12 

Travel back to the days of yore as Historic Smithville transforms with sword fighting, knights, jesters, song, dance and more. The New Jersey Renaissance Faire runs from 11 am to 5 pm each day. For a schedule of performances, visit the website

 

Killer Queen: A Tribute Band

April 17 

The spirit of your favorite glam rock band lives on with this iconic tribute band. Watch your favorite songs come to life. Performance starts at 8 pm at The Scottish Rite Auditorium. Tickets range from $39.50 to $65. For more information, visit the website

 

Garden Retreat

April 18 

Recharge with Grounds For Sculpture’s garden retreat. The day starts with a grounding program, followed by your choice of activity: herbalism, forest bathing, yoga, wellness walk and more. Doo Dah Parade 

April 18 

Name a better sight than watching more than 300 basset hounds trot down the Boardwalk. We’ll wait. Ocean City’s Doo Dah Parade returns, starting at noon from Asbury Ave. & 6th Street. For parade route, visit the website

 

Plant Sale 

April 25 

Gardening season already? Stock up on vegetable plants, herbs, houseplants, annuals and more at Camden County Certified Gardener’s annual Plant Sale. The sale runs from 9 am to 2 pm at the Camden County Sustainability Campus. For more information, visit the website

 

Garden State Championships Regatta

April 25 

Watch high school and junior crews from across New Jersey race on the Cooper River in this state-level championship regatta. Race times are TBA (aim for watching in the morning). For more information, visit the website

 

Fine Arts & Craft Fair 

April 25 

Discover your next beautiful find with a collection of fine arts and crafters at the Art Goes to Town arts & craft fair, hosted at The Village at Taunton Forge. Visitors can also watch art demonstrations and live performances. The fair runs from 10 am to 4 pm. For more information, visit the website

 

REV250: Camden County and the Revolutionary War 

April 29 

What was it like to live in Camden County during the Revolutionary War? The Camden County Historical Society is shining a light on that history during this program at the Cherry Hill Public Library. The free talk runs from noon to 1:30 pm. For more information, visit the website.
