Things to do in South Jersey in December

The holiday season is here – but that doesn’t mean your days have to be filled just with holiday shopping. Check out these South Jersey events to have plenty of fun.

Camden County Winterfest
Dec. 1 – Feb. 23
Camden County’s riverside ice skating rink is back with food, music, skating and more for the winter season. For a full schedule (including special events), visit the website.

Girls Night Out
Dec. 5
Spend a night on the square with your girls at Historic Smithville as they host an evening of shopping with wine, cheese, raffles and lots of discounts. The free event runs from 6 to 9 pm. For more information, visit the website.

Parade of Lights
Dec. 6
Watch fire engines decked out in twinkling light displays parade through Collingswood’s Knights Park for the annual Parade of Lights Fire Engine Parade. The parade begins at 6:30 pm. For more information, visit the website.

Christmas Parade
Dec. 6
Head down the Shore for a seaside parade featuring plenty of lights and a visit from Santa. The parade travels down Asbury Avenue from 6th to 11th street and begins at 6 pm. For more information, visit the website.

Movies in the Park
Dec. 6
Take in a screening of The Muppets Christmas Carol during Haddon Heights’ Movies in the Park, featuring popcorn, bubbles, giveaways and more. The free screening begins at 7 pm at McLaughlin-Norcross Memorial Dell. For more information, visit the website.

Family Black Light Paint Party
Dec. 7
Paint with the whole family during Grounds For Sculpture’s monthly family open studio. Stop by to contribute to the studio’s collaborative mural with special paints that glow under a black-light bulb. Haddon Township Winterfest
Dec. 7
Get started on your holiday shopping, find something for yourself during Haddon Township’s Winterfest Market. The market will also feature local food vendors, a beer garden and live music. The event runs from 11 am to 4 pm at Haddon Square. For more information, visit the website.

Hammonton Winterfest
Dec. 7 & 8
Celebrate the holiday season – while staying cozy under a heated tent – with kids’ activities, live music, carriage rides, S’mores and food trucks, pictures with Santa, holiday shopping and more as The Rotary Club of Hammonton hosts its Winterfest. The free event runs from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday at the Mt. Carmel Fairgrounds. For more information, visit the website.

Bridgeton Holiday House Tour
Dec. 7
Take a peek into more than 20 historic Bridgeton homes decorated for the holidays with this self-guided tour. The tour starts at Gallery 50, and the homes are all within walking distance. Tickets cost $10, and the event runs from 3 to 7 pm. For more information, visit the website.

Mozart’s Piano Concerto
Dec. 14
