The countdown is on – kids can’t wait for a full week off from school and parents, well, maybe there are some mixed feelings. But you can make sure everyone has a fun-filled break with these activities to keep everyone smiling.
Be a farmer for a day at Johnsons Corner Farm
Build a pillow or blanket fort and watch a movie
Spend a day off with Katz JCC (they host vacation days with special activities that are different each day!)
Have a photo scavenger hunt (make a list of items around the house and yard, and have everyone go take pictures of them)
Make self portraits at Perkins Center for the Arts Collingswood
Step into a painting at Grounds For Sculpture
Have family game night (or family game DAY!)
Check out the events happening at your local library (they’ll have everything from storytime and crafts to educational programs)
Feed porcupines, hippos and sea turtles at Adventure Aquarium
Climb the trees (and obstacle courses) at Cape May County Park & Zoo’s Tree to Tree adventure park
Make a family yearbook for 2024
Take a Revolutionary War tour of South Jersey (we recommend playing the Hamilton soundtrack when traveling between locations)
Run off some of that energy at a South Jersey playground
Go to a Phillies game (It’s BOGO hot dog night on April 16 & 29 and the Phanatic’s Birthday on April 20)
Have a dance party
Explore a former fishing village and take a ferry ride at Tuckerton Seaport
Go on a hike and collect (small) rocks to take home and paint
Paddle South Jersey’s waterways on a kayak adventure
Have a gardening day – have your kids help you water, plant and check on your seedlings
Make some homemade gifts for Mother’s Day (May 11) and/or Father’s Day (June 15)
Have a sleepover on an actual Battleship
Have a sleepover in your living room with the whole family
Look for falcons hanging out on Palmyra Cove Nature Park’s falcon nesting box (it’s located on the Tacony-Palmyra bridge, and you might even catch a glimpse of young falcons this month)
Go down the Shore for the day
Meet cuddly and crawly animal ambassadors at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge
And when the kids head back to school, celebrate surviving by treating yourself to a cozy rest session at an equally cozy coffee shop
Or treat yourself to a happy hour (we’ll see you there!)
