Lions and tigers and bears…oh wait, that’s not quite what we’ll be seeing. But get ready for sharks and llamas and lemurs and more at these South Jersey spots with animals for the kids to fall in love.
Cape May
Cape May’s free zoo is open year round, with chances to sneak a peek at red pandas, giraffes, lions and much more. The site also offers special encounters where you can get up-close-and-personal with the zoo’s cuddly residents.
Medford

Atlantic City
Atlantic City’s new exploration into the sea opened last March with plenty of underwater fun to be had, including a 225-lb sea turtle, a coloring area, touch tank and 25,000 gallons of water. The aquarium continues to grow with new exhibits on the way!
Elmer
A goat named oreo, a duck named lucy and a donkey named donkey walk into a barn…that happens pretty frequently at Coombs Barnyard actually. And there are plenty more barnyard friends to make at the farm, where people can visit year-round.
Mays Landing
The 600+ animals at Funny Farm were all rescued and are now living their best life on the sprawling farm. In addition to meeting all the animals in person, you can also volunteer on the farm, contribute to the wish list and adopt an animal.
Straight Shot Farm
Egg Harbor City
A small, family-run farm in South Jersey offering a cozy, hands-on countryside experience. From mini cows and goats to other farm favorites, plus seasonal events where visitors can interact with animals, relax outdoors, and enjoy a peaceful escape.
Camden

Stone Harbor
Say hello to some creatures you didn’t even know called the Jersey Shore home. Through the winter, visit the institute on weekends for activities like craft time, science activities and aquarium feedings. And be sure to check back for warmer seasons to help explore the bay with nets and join the salt marsh safari.
Medford
