7 Things to do in South Jersey This Weekend (May 20 – 22)
By Elyse Notarianni

Become a (Big-Time) Birdwatcher

When: Thursday, May 19 – Sunday, May 22
Where: Cape May
Whether you’re a seasoned bird watcher or just someone who’d like to learn more, the Cape May Spring Festival offers field trips, boat trips, trolley trips and indoor programs – all focused on the sport of birding. Choose from a long list of excursions from May 19 – 22, including a mini-bus trip to private properties to see active habitat restoration. Attendees will learn how South Jersey residents are enhancing wildlife habitats in their backyards.

Craft Show

When: Saturday, May 21 from 9 am – 4 pm
Where: Pitman

Join the Greater Pitman Chamber of Commerce for their annual Lori Poisker Memorial Pitman Craft Show. See over 200 hand craft vendors and local small businesses along South Broadway and Pitman Avenues — and maybe pick up a craft or 2 along the way.

WaltFEST

When: Saturday, May 21, 11 am – 3 pm
Where: Whitman Stafford Farm House, Laurel Springs
Celebrate the birthday of Camden’s most famous poet at Laurel Springs’ “WaltFest” Art & History Festival, honoring none other than Walt Whitman himself. Enjoy art, food and trolleys at this very South Jersey celebration.

Arts & Music Festival

When: Saturday, May 21, 12 pm – 5 pm
Where: Hammonton
Get creative at Hammonton’s Arts & Music Festival! Enjoy a block party filled with bands, art vendors, live demonstations & more on Horton St between Bellevue and Orchard!

Shorebird & Horseshoe Crab Festival

When: Saturday, May 21
Where: Stone Harbor
Head to the Wetlands Institute for the 9th annual Spring Shorebird and Horseshoe Crab Festival to celebrate the beginning of shorebird migration and horseshoe crab spawning season! And we do mean celebrate — South Jersey’s beaches host the largest concentration of spawning horseshoe crabs in the world and is part to one of one of the world’s “most epic” shorebird journeys. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $20 for children & members get a $5 discount. All proceeds support the institute’s conservation efforts and research.

Bordentown Street Fair

When: Saturday & Sunday May 21 & 22, 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Bordentown
Head to historic downtown Bordentown on Farnsworth Ave for shopping, food, entertainment, family fun and more as a part of the town’s 43rd annual street fair.

Wine Fest

When: Saturday & Sunday, May 21 – 22
Grab a glass at Pennsville’s annual wine festival at Riverview Beach Park this weekend! The festival will feature wares from local SJ wineries. One-day general admission tickets cost $15, and the event is, of course, 21 and older.
