School’s out…at least for a bit. So what are we supposed to do for a whole week to keep these kids entertained? These South Jersey spots have the perfect solution.
Creative Kiddos
Spending the day at Grounds For Sculpture has lots of perks: larger-than-life art, getting a good dose of the outdoors and a delicious restaurant right in the middle of the art. But the art park also delivers plenty of creative activities for the whole family, like the Creative Kiddos program on April 11, where visitors can make their own hanging lantern. There is a $10 fee per child for the program.
Family Day
At Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge
The 171-acre wildlife refuge in Medford will keep your kids busy all day as they explore the outdoors, meet new furry friends and learn about South Jersey’s wildlife. Stop by on April 6 for Family Day, where children ages 5 to 12 (accompanied by an adult) will enjoy hands-on learning about water and the role it plays in our environment. Think experiments, investigating streams and more.
Creative Corner
At Perkins Center for the Arts
Keep those creative gears turning all week long with Perkins Center for the Arts’ creative corner. The drop-in program allows students to explore any art form they want in a relaxed studio environment. The free program is available every day from April 6 to 11.
Small Sailors Tour
All aboard to sail into history with your little ones. Battleship New Jersey is the perfect place to explore a real Battleship, and will host their special Small Sailors Tour (designed especially for children under 12) on April 4. Tour begins at 10 am and costs $15 for children and $5 for the chaperone(s).
Scavenger Hunt Adventure
Hippos and sharks and puffer fish…oh my! Adventure Aquarium could fill an entire week with underwater fun. From special animal encounters to the scavenger hunt adventure program (purchase the package and find the 8 hidden golden sharks for an exclusive prize), your kids won’t want to leave.
Curiosity Club
At Edelman Fossil Park & Museum
This fossil park-turned museum isn’t just a place to learn about the dinosaurs that called South Jersey home, it’s also the perfect place to let your little ones grow into explorers. With daily programs like curiosity club, meet the dinos, guided nature walk, there’s plenty to keep your kids learning and loving the cool creatures who used to walk through the quarry. (And the quarry dig experience is back for anyone who wants to go dig for real fossils!)
Extended park hours
At The Funplex
There’s not enough time in the day for all this fun, unless you’re heading to The Funplex during spring break! The park’s outdoor attractions reopen for the season this month, meaning your kids can run off that school’s-out energy every day from noon to 7 pm. Plus, don’t forget to stop by the bowling alley, rides, arcade, laser tag, go karts and more inside.
