Sunny days are on their way, and we’re taking advantage of them with some South Jersey excursions perfect for the whole family. Check them out!
Cape May County Zoo
Come for the wild friends, stay for the wild adventures. In addition to visiting Cape May County Zoo’s dozens of wildlife residents and enjoying some special encounters with select animals, park visitors can spend the day taking on the aerial ropes course, taking a ride on the carousel, running around 2 park playgrounds and even fishing in the park’s freshwater lake. The zoo is open from 10 am to 3:30 pm, and closes at 4:30 pm in the summer. For more information, visit the website.
New Jersey Renaissance Faire
Huzzah! The New Jersey Renaissance Faire has returned with plenty of fantastical fun for the whole family. A knightly tournament of arms. Children’s shows. Medieval characters. Fire dancers. Magicians. Live jousting. Gourmet sandwiches. Fairy Floss. The list of entertainment goes on. Visitors are even encouraged to dress up in their own costumes. The faire runs from 10 am to 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday through June 9 at the Burlington County Fairgrounds. For more information, visit the website.
Grounds For Sculpture
Step into art (literally) as you explore larger-than-life sculptures, paintings brought to life and gorgeous gardens. Grab your sketchbook and wander the park on your own time or stop by one of the creative events like family open studio, where families are invited to make art, or tots for sculpture, an artmaking workshop designed specifically for your young ones. The sculpture park is open from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 10 am to 9 pm Friday through Sunday. For more information, visit the website.
Adventure Aquarium
Spend the day under the sea with some fin-tastic creatures – from happy hippos to smiley stingrays. Get up-close-and-personal with behind-the-scenes encounters where you can swim with sharks, feed the resident hippos, pal around with penguins or train sea turtles. After your encounter, learn about the aquarium’s more than 15,000 aquatic animals, walk through the shark bridge, visit one of the touch tanks and stop by the KidZone. The aquarium hours vary, so check the website.
