Camden is about to get mighty. Philadelphia-based nonprofit Mighty Writers is coming to the newly opened Nick Birgilio Writers House on the waterfront.

The nonprofit, which offers free writing and tutoring services to kids throughout the city, plans to open its doors in Camden in September – just in time for the school year.

In Philadelphia, Mighty Writers has free-standing writing centers in four neighborhoods, as well as two more in city recreation centers. Each year, the nonprofit reaches more than 3,000 kids with the goal of helping school children between the ages of 7 to 17 develop the skills and confidence they need to think and write clearly.

Mighty Writers offers daily afterschool programs, writing classes on nights and weekends, teen scholar programs, mentorships, college prep courses, college essay writing classes, workshops and more.
