5 Ways to Explore the South Jersey Outdoors

Celebrate Spring making its (slow) way back with some fresh-air and virtual nature adventures the entire family will love.

Falcon Cam | palmyracove.org
When even extra mittens won’t keep you warm, log on to observe the Peregrine Falcons through Palmyra Cove’s Falcon Cam. Then when it’s warmer, look for them on the hiking trails near the Tacony-Palmyra and Burlington-Bristol Bridges. Nests are at the top of the bridge but falcons fly all around the area.

Rancocas Nature Center | rancocasnaturecenter.org
Looking to capture the perfect trail photos and wildlife shots? Before hitting the hiking trails at Rancocas Nature Center, pop into their monthly outdoor photography club meeting on Zoom or yet-to-be-announced outdoor location. The next meeting is at 10 am on March 4.

Refuge Mornings | cedarrun.org
Get your morning going with fun wildlife programming at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Events range from snack time stories and group hikes to virtual animal lessons.

Nature Tots | gloucestercountynj.gov
Explore SJ’s unique natural environments with the Gloucester County Department of Parks and Recreation. Children 3 and older enjoy crafts and activities at home while they learn about the environment.

Little Explorers | wetlandsinstitute.org
Hit Stone Harbor’s Wetlands Institute to see box turtles munching on Jersey-fresh tomatoes or horseshoe crabs feasting on shrimp during a live feeding.
