One More Thing: What’s a good beach read?

I have the perfect book to read on the beach: “The Beach” by Alex Garland. It’s about this hidden paradise in Thailand and an adventure that takes place there. Definitely worth a read in the sand.

Shout out to my fellow elder millennials, it’s time to laugh through “On Being 40(ish)” by Lindsey Mead. Grab an aperol spritz – it’s happening.

“New Jersey Uncorked” by David Mullen. It’s a perfect beach read – you get an insider’s view of Garden State wineries and vineyards.

My ADHD makes me obsessed with scrolling on social media feeds. The constant search for dopamine, combined with the sounds of the waves, is my perfect day.

I watched both seasons of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” on Amazon, so I thought I would check out the book. Read it last summer on the beach and it was perfect – a light read, captures the essence of summer and it’s a great coming of age story.

A good beach read is “The Sicilian Inheritance” by Jo Piazza. The author is from Philadelphia, so she often references local places.

“The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern. The author tells her story of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. It’s really a fascinating story because her personal life makes the hike so much more than your typical hike.

A great beach read is any Janet Evanovich Number series. These books are quirky and fun, and it’s a light-hearted read to follow Stephanie Plum through her crazy days. And it’s fitting since the setting is based locally, making it an excellent Shore day read.

I love a good thriller at the beach. Something like “Verity” or “Too Late” by Colleen Hoover (my current author obsession). The scenery of the beach keeps me calm, cool and happy while my mind is being terrified!

I read this on vacation almost 10 years ago and every now and then, I take it with me to re-read on the beach: “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s a pretty famous book that was made into a movie with Julia Roberts. I think a lot of people love it because it follows a woman on a journey around the world, and she discovers herself more than anything else. It will make you happy.

This isn’t a book, but in June I was on the beach and listened to the entire “The Tortured Poets Department” – Taylor Swift’s new album. I concentrated on the lyrics, as if I was listening to an audiobook. It’s over 2 hours but felt like 10 minutes. The lyrics are just brilliant.

“Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. A quick read about a mischievous sea creature. It’s a light, fun, breezy read just like a day at the beach.

I hate to say this, but I usually read my phone. What an awful thing to do at the beach.
