The Katz JCC kicks off its annual Festival of Arts, Books and Culture this week with some powerhouse female authors.

From the adventures of “The Littlest Bigfoot” to tons of recipes of modern Jewish desserts, these women have turned their passions into businesses – and you have the chance to hear all about it. Find out more about each author below, and find tickets for the events here.

 

Jennifer Weiner is a New York Times best-selling author known for her highly popular novels, including her 2001 debut book “Good in Bed.” Last year, she ventured into young-adult literature with her book “The Littlest Bigfoot” and continues the suspenseful series with “Little Bigfoot, Big City.” Weiner will speak on Monday, Oct. 30 at 7 pm.

 

 

Amy Kritzer, founder of What Jew Wanna Eat and owner of ModernTribe, is an innovative young chef with the heart of a Balaboosta who puts a modern twist on Jewish cuisine. Her new cookbook, “Sweet Noshings,” brings traditional Jewish desserts into the 21st century with recipes like chocolate halva hamentaschen and drunken honey-pomegranate cake. Kritzer will speak on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 am.

 

 

Jen Glantz is the brains behind the business Bridesmaid for Hire, which takes the drama out of wedding planning for the modern bride. She is the heart behind the blog Things I Learned From, the main character in the Amazon best-seller “All My Friends are Engaged” and the author of the new book “Always a Bridesmaid for Hire.” Glantz will speak on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 am.
