Things to do in South Jersey this weekend: January 18

Take a look at some South Jersey events and activities that can make your weekend memorable. (But be sure to call or check the venue’s website before you leave to see if the weather will affect the event!)

 

Avenue Q
January 18 and 19

Collingswood Community Theater presents AVENUE Q, a musical about valuable lessons on friendship, acceptance, love and living in the moment. The show is packed full of dirty jokes, mischief and humorous commentary on everyday struggles. Show begins at 7:30 pm at the Scottish Rite Auditorium. For more information,

 

Birding Along the Delaware
January 19, 9 am – 2 pm

The Delaware River is a local flyway that offers the opportunity to observe a variety of winter birds. The Rancocas Nature Center trip includes a car-caravan in Gloucester County, including National Park, Riverwinds, and the Floodgates. Meet in the Red Bank Battlefield lower parking area in National Park. Directions available when preregistering – call RNC at 609-261-2495. There is no charge for this program, but donations are encouraged.

 

Mammals and Tracks
January 19, 10 am – noon

Certain mammals may be more difficult to observe during the colder months of the year. Learn about the different mammals you can find in Smithville Park, how to identify their tracks, scat, and other signs that they’ve been in the area. Meet at parking lot B on Meade Lane. Laser Beyonce
January 19, 8 pm

Experience Queen B like never before with this entertaining laser show at Rowan University’s Edelman Planetarium. Enjoy such Beyonce hits as “Formation,” “Independent Women,” “Halo” and more. Cost for adults and non-Rowan students is $5. Cost for seniors 60 and above is $3. Cost for children 16 and under cost $3 and cost for Rowan students is $3. The event begins at 8 pm. Moonlight Walk
January 19, 7 pm

Come explore the historic village of Whitesbog by moonlight. The walk is hosted by the Whitesbog Preservation Trust. A guide will lead walkers through a 3 – 5 mile walk and share insights about Whitesbog and the nature that surrounds the historic Browns Mill town. Everyone will meet at the General Store at 7 pm at 120 W. Whitesbog Road. The cost is $5. Make a reservation by calling 609-893-4646. For more information, visit here.
