7 Indoor Places in South Jersey your child will love

As the air begins to chill, and we head inside for the cold months, we’ve got a list of places to visit when the TV gets boring and your little ones start to feel antsy.

Edelman Fossil Park & Museum

Walk among the dinosaurs when you visit the Cretaceous galleries, see where researchers dust off their fossils and play with creepy crawly creatures in critter cove. Plus, try out the museum’s virtual reality experience and play around in the discovery forest, where little ones can explore interactive kiosks and a TED-ed theater.

Adventure Aquarium

Explore the depths of our ocean while staying above ground when you visit the more than 1-million gallons of tanks at Adventure Aquarium, full with all kinds of sea creatures, from sand sharks and sea turtles to stingrays. Plus, visit with other animals like hippos and penguins and stop by the touch tanks throughout the aquarium to get a feel for those sea faring creatures.

Your local library

There’s always something happening at your local library – and it’ll be free! Programs like story time and tech lessons are staples at every location, but each library also offers unique events like Yoga at the Cherry Hill Library (Nov. 1), code club at Moorestown Library (Oct. 28) and Dia De Los Muertos storytime and craft at Haddonfield Library (Oct. 26).

Splitz Bowling

Bowling gets an upgrade at Splitz. Before or after your game, check out Splitz’s virtual reality center with games like zombie hunts and esports and stop by the arcade to play world’s biggest  pac man and other classic games. Plus, grab a bite and don’t forget dessert at Lickety Splitz, serving handcrafted ice cream (some flavors infused with alcohol for the adults!).

Perkins Center for the Arts

There’s always something lively happening at Perkins – and it usually will have your creative muscles flexing. Upcoming programs include open mic nights, painting with colored pencil classes (for teens), character drawing for kids and dance showcases.

Ric and Jean Edelman Planetarium

The universe is big, but the Edelman Planetarium is able to fit it all into one convenient auditorium. Learn about outer space with general shows like Sunday’s family shows, and the special Saturday show about the arctic circle running through November. And have a little extra fun with music-themed laser shows like Laser Elton John (Fridays through Nov. 21) and Laser Taylor Swift (Fridays through Nov. 21).

NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum

Explore the history of aviation inside a real World War II hangar, filled with fighter jets, helicopters and classic engines, and opportunities for the whole family to experience what it was like to work in and around those crafts. Sit in a real air traffic control tower, climb into the cockpit of a fighter jet and try out lots of other interactive exhibits.
