It’s not all monkey business at the Cape May County Zoo. Check out what you can do at South Jersey’s only zoo during the “off” season.
Littlest explorers program
Is your little one an animal lover? They can get up-close with some of their favorite cuddly creatures and learn all about the zoo’s residents during the three-week-long Littlest Explorers program.
Become a Junior Zookeeper
Sign your preteen up for a truly animal-tastic experience as they see what it’s like to be a zookeeper. The half-day junior zookeeper program invites children ages 10 to 13 (with an advanced program for ages 14-16 in Feb.) to tour the zoo, meet ambassador animals, watch and participate in animal training and enrichment sessions and more.
Learn a little (as an adult!)
Learning isn’t just for the young. Cape May County Zoo is beginning a lecture series geared toward adults every Wednesday. During the hour-long lecture and Q&A, visitors age 18 and up will meet ambassador animals and learn about their habitats, behaviors and more. Cost is $15 per session.
It’s free!
Think of this zoo like a walk in the park – but with really cool wildlife. No admission required, just pack up the family and take a stroll among the lions and tigers and bears. Oh my!
You can get really up-close with the animals
Where else can you feed a capybara? Cape May County Zoo’s animal encounters bring out-of-this-world experiences like feeding giraffes, camels, tortoises and, yes, capybara to South Jersey. And if you really want to up your zoo experience, visitors can reserve a private guided tour, led by a zoo educator an hour before the zoo opens.
