48 Hours in South Jersey: A Perfect Winter Weekend Itinerary

If there’s one thing we know, it’s how to have a truly fantastic weekend in South Jersey. Try out this itinerary to make your next weekend memorable.

Saturday Start

Start with breakfast (and, of course, coffee) at a local coffee shop for a hit of caffeine on the go with a side of something sweet or savory, but definitely delicious.

Saturday Morning: small town session

South Jersey is filled with charming small towns that offer sweet sites and cozy vibes. Hit Haddon Ave. in Collingswood to window shop and pick up some thrifted finds or head to Medford for a log cabin backdrop and one-stop shopping at The Shoppes at Medford Mill. Another shopping go-to is scenic downtown Haddonfield, with shops packed along Kings Hwy, featuring kitchen wares, clothing boutiques and more.

Pro tip: bring your coffee along to stay warm.

Saturday Afternoon: adventure time

After grabbing lunch (try a spot from our dining guide), get out of the cold with a mini adventure. If you love all things ocean, stop by Adventure Aquarium, where you can touch stingrays and watch hippos get fed. Or walk where the dinosaurs walked at the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum, where you can actually dig for real fossils and learn about the dinosaurs that called South Jersey home.

Saturday Night: dinner date

End your night with delicious cocktails and tasty dishes at one of South Jersey’s unique eateries. Want to step up your night? Dine in style at Monterey Grill. Looking for scenic views of the water? Visit Carlucci’s Waterfront. Need a warming bowl of soup? Try the newly opened Heng Seng Noodles in Cherry Hill.

Sunday: a slow start

Sunday is for brunching. Upgrade your breakfast with a delicious dish from South Jersey’s favorite brunch spots, like Sabrina’s Cafe in Collingswood, Cafe Lift in Haddonfield or The Farm & Fisherman Tavern in Cherry Hill.

Sunday morning: the weekend warrior

If you have time (depending on brunch), stop off on your way to the final location for a brisk walk through Palmyra Cove. Take in the views of the Delaware River, look out for local wildlife along the trails and check the nest boxes along the Red Winged Blackbird Trail.

Sunday afternoon: an artistic finish

After lunch, wrap up your day with larger-than-life art at Grounds For Sculpture sculpture park where paintings come to life, sculptures stand out against the sky and gardens become works of art. Once you’ve explored the park, stop by Rat’s Restaurant (reservations recommended) for a one-of-a-kind dining experience that will make your weekend truly memorable.
