#SalPalEaglesCamp: Why Carson Isn’t Running Team Drills

Carson Wentz was held out of most team drills, including the crucial 11-on-11 offense with the first team, for the third straight practice on Wednesday at Eagles training camp.

Don’t panic. It’s just Doug Pederson being extra cautious. Pederson said Wentz has had no setbacks with the left knee. And teammates say there is no hesitation in Wentz’s movements or throwing motion. But it’s clear that the coaches were scared off by Saturday’s practice, in full pads, when bodies were falling to the ground near Wentz’s feet. No one made contact with Wentz. But there could easily have been contact. And the team doctors and trainers have not cleared Wentz for any kind of physical contact.

Remember: everybody’s thinking long-term – the Eagles and Wentz, who is still playing on his rookie contract for this season and next. He’s looking at a payday of in excess of $100 million with a new deal. Can’t risk that.
