What better way is there to celebrate National Rescue Dog Day than adopting a shelter buddy? Check out these pups looking for a second chance in South Jersey.

Meet Carvell

Where: Voorhees Animal Orphanage
Don’t let the puppy face fool you — this handsome man is fully grown, but at 1 year old, he’s still bursting with puppy energy. He’s been a little nervous in the shelter, so a quiet adults-or-teenage-only home with another pup to befriend may be the perfect situation. Bonus points if you have a fenced-in yard for extra training and sunny-morning zoomies.

Meet Ghoul

Where: Homeward Bound
If you’re looking for a gal with a sense of humor, this goofy girl is the one for you. This large 4-year-old pup hasn’t had the best life, so she’d be best as an only pet. But she’s optimistic that the next phase is going to be awesome.

Meet Miss Lady May

Where: Burlington County Animal Shelter
This prim and proper Terrier, Pit Bull Mix is a high-energy lady who is just as sweet as she is feisty. She’s a super high-energy, happy and affectionate, crate trained and very smart. Sit, stay, down, shake, leave it — she does it all.

Meet FlapJack

Where: South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter
Flapjack is a young, male, medium sized Pit Bull Terrior in Vineland with big brown eyes that make you just know he’s a very good boy. The name Flapjack is 10/10, and we totally think whoever brings him to his forever home should keep it.

Meet Thanos

Where: Gloucester County Animal Shelter
Thanos is a large german shepherd looking for a new home — on his own, with other dogs, with other cats, it doesn’t matter! This senior pup would just be happy to be given a second chance. He’s strong and may need to learn some leash manners, but is otherwise well behaved. 15/10 would adopt.

Meet Montana

Where: Animal Adoption Center in Lindenwold
This 2-year-old retriever, Labrador mix is the life of the party and looking for a sophisticated crowd — that means an adults-only home is a must for this dude. He’s super sweet and very smart, but sometimes too smart for his own good, so he’ll need someone to give him stability and make sure he sticks by the rules. So you better be someone who’s immune to some puppy charm, because how could you say no to this face?!

Not ready to adopt? Shelters are always looking for donations to support the animals in their care. Check out your local shelter to see their current needs — some may even have Amazon wishlists set up so all you have to do is click a few times, and you’re done!
