Move over Napa Valley. South Jersey’s winemaking region is home to more than 30 wineries, many of them proud recipients of prestigious taste-testing awards. Yet another sign of the region’s arrival: Camden County College has produced its first crop at what is expected to become a “teaching vineyard,” where students can gain hands-on experience growing grapes and learning the business.
In partnership with the Camden County Office of Sustainability, the college is enrolling students in its new viticulture certificate program. Starting this spring semester, they’ll learn everything from the science of growing grapes to marketing, sales, hospitality and winemaking.
