South Jersey got a little shaky on Sunday, although you probably didn’t notice. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a small earthquake near Westville, New Jersey, shortly after 5 am. No one felt the effects of the 1.5-magnitude quake, and the police weren’t even alerted of the event.

Another earthquake was reported off the coast of the Highlands in North Jersey two hours later. This was recorded 4.4 km below the ocean and was 2.0 magnitude.

The USGS reports that this is the first earthquake South Jersey has seen in 2016, although there have been 16 in North Jersey this year.
