Farming is Getting a New Look in Camden

The largest indoor farm in the world is being built right here in South Jersey.

AeroFarms LLC is expected to open its 10th indoor farm, the largest in the world, in Camden in 2018. The 78,000-square-foot farm will be housed in a warehouse-style building on Broadway.

By using hydroponic technology and vertical planting, AeroFarms’ warehouse farms create a crop-friendly environment year-round and brings farming to densely populated communities – like Camden.

Design and zoning processes have not begun, but the farm recently earned a $11.14 million grant in tax incentives over 10 years from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to build the farm in Camden.

The new farm will supply South Jersey and the Philadelphia region and is expected to source most of its workforce from the surrounding area.
