Jean and Ric Edelman announced a donation to Rowan University focused on supporting students in the College of Communication & Creative Arts (CCCA).

The $10 million gift is the largest single endowed gift dedicated solely to student scholarships in Rowan’s history. The donation will provide merit and need-based academic scholarships for students, primarily freshman, in CCCA. (Although the scholarships will also be available to older undergraduates and transfer students.)

“Creativity and communication matter,” says Ric Edelman, who graduated in 1980 from then-Glassboro State College. “We want to help students pursue these disciplines, and help provide them the tools they need to succeed.”

“Our experience at Rowan gave us the foundation to succeed in our career,” says Jean Edelman, who also graduated from Glassboro State College. “We are grateful and want to help today’s students have the same opportunity for success.”

While this is the Edelmans’ first donation to go directly to students, it’s not the first time the couple has given back to Rowan. The two funded the Ric and Jean Edelman Planetarium, and, in 2016, they donated $25 million for the Jean and Ric Edelman Fossil Park at Rowan University.
