After college, I wanted an adventure before starting my career, so I lived in Honolulu for over a year and worked as a live-in nanny. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Several years ago the company I was working for sponsored the Bon Jovi “Have a Nice Day” Tour. We had the opportunity to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity to build homes that were used as a backdrop for a Bon Jovi music video. As a true Jersey Girl, I was in a few scenes of both versions of the music video “You Can’t Go Home.”

I was in the front row to see Bon Jovi perform during a sound check at the Wachovia Center about 20 years ago. It was such a cool experience.

While working in the Office of the Mayor in the City of Camden, I had the honor of meeting Congressman John Lewis. Not fully realizing the magnitude of who I was meeting at the moment, I casually greeted him, and then he shook my hand. It’s a day I will never forget.

I have passed out 5 different times, in 5 different countries, and there was no alcohol or drugs involved!

I took a Muay Thai class in a gym in the Philippines where Manny Pacquiao trained. Not everyone knows who that is – but it’s pretty cool.

When my kids were little, I decided to do a “Day in the Life” video of them, and it’s one of the most precious things I own. My son was 8 and my daughter was 4, and I videotaped them for the entire day. I started with walking into their rooms and waking them up in the morning, getting dressed, breakfast, walking out the door to school, coming home, playing (I captured my daughter quietly singing a Spice Girls song), dinner and tucking them into bed at night. My kids now love it as much as I do, and we sit down and watch it every few years. I have a complete picture of what life at home was about with my little ones.

I have been to Antarctica! My husband has always loved penguins, and we LOVE to travel. So one year we took a 3-week cruise to South America, the Falkland Islands and Antarctica. It was one of the most amazing things we’ve ever done.

In 2018 I made my debut as a supernumerary (extra) in an opera, “Sky on Swings,” presented by Opera Philadelphia. Who knew the incredible opportunity to appear in a professional production of a world premiere opera, in a cast lead by Frederica von Stade, would come to me in my senior years.

I worked in D.C. as a stylist and make-up artist for Interview Magazine back in the ’90s. I worked at the White House twice. It gave me a peek inside elite D.C. My fav was working on Letitia Baldridge, Jacqueline Kennedy’s Press Secretary.

I received my certificate in interior design last year. It’s so different from the work I’ve been doing for the past 23 years. I got interested in design when we redid our kitchen, and it’s now my retirement plan.

I was a competitive synchronized swimmer in college so I’m pretty comfortable upside down in water. We won an invitation to nationals where we placed 6th. You have to have a good sense of humor to be a synchronized swimmer, because there are a lot of jokes including an infamous SNL skit.

When I was 16, my dad and I went scuba diving with sharks in the Bahamas. One shark came close to me, and they had told us to make a fist and hit it in the nose. I couldn’t bring myself to do that, but luckily, it just swam right over my head.
