Tania Martinez in her home podcast studio

Students from the digital studies program at Rutgers University – Camden have launched a new podcast that stemmed from a class project. The podcast, “Voices of Immigration,” shares students’ personal stories of growing up in immigrant families in South Jersey. Host Tania Martinez, a junior political science and philosophy major, shared her personal story in the first episode, talking about what it was like for her growing up in a household of Mexican and Guatemalan immigrants. In the second episode Dhrruv Singroha, a junior finance and economics major, described being an international student who had to return home when the pandemic forced many borders to close. Future episodes will tell more student stories and cover topics like DACA and other advocacy issues. You can find their first episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or SoundCloud.
