We all love those lazy days soaking up the sun on our wonderful beaches down the Shore. But sometimes, you need to do something a little different than summer’s typical activities. Pull out your calendar and mark these days for some fabulous, out-of-the-box fun.

Ocean City Pops Presents…

The Ocean City Pops perform a wide variety of music for all ages throughout the summer. Special concerts include: Great American Songbook on July 10, Star Wars and Beyond on July 17 and Broadway Smash Hits on July 31. Concerts start at 7:30 pm at The Ocean City Music Pier. Ticket prices range from $20-$30.

BBQ Championship & Anglesea Blues Festival

Don’t miss the barbeque and blues during this 3-day festival at 2nd and Olde New Jersey Avenues (and surrounding pubs) in North Wildwood. Enjoy live cooking demonstrations, food and national blues acts on the main stage. Hours are 4 – 11 pm on Friday; 10 am – 11 pm on Saturday and 10 am – 6 pm on Sunday.

Lifeguard Championships

Ten Cape May County beach patrols compete in rowing, swimming and running on the beach at Rambler Rd. in Wildwood Crest. Competition begins at 6:30 pm.

NJ Jeep Beach Invasion

It’s the largest gathering of Jeeps in the Northeast. See 2,500 Jeeps parked on the beach for this 3-day event in Wildwood. Friday night will feature a “Back the Blue” fundraiser at Naval Air Station Wildwood from 6 – 10 pm. Donation for the fundraiser is $10.

LBI Art Festival

Enjoy fine arts and crafts vendors from 10 am – 4 pm under the water tower at Harvey Cedars Sunset Park on Long Beach Island.

Carnival by the Sea

There’s so much to do at Sea Isle City’s premier carnival by the sea. Enjoy carnival games, magic shows, an obstacle course, roaming carnival acts and traditional carnival food at Excursion Park from 5 – 8 pm.

Craft Beer & Craft Festival

The Emlen Physick Estate in Cape May hosts this all-day festival featuring local and regional craft beers along with food trucks and family friendly entertainment. There will be live music on the outdoor stage (bring a blanket or chair). Admission is free, and event runs from 10 am – 5 pm.

All-Female Surf Contest

In this fundraiser to benefit cancer patients, female surfers are separated into 2 age groups and then randomly paired – one experienced surfer with one younger surfer. Teams compete through a bracket-style tournament. Competition is held on the beach at 68th St. in LBI from 8 am – 5 pm. Don’t miss the vendor village with food, beer, live music and surfer apparel for sale. No wave date is July 31.

Ultimate Beach Frisbee

More than 500 teams compete in this 4-on-4 team competition for players of all skill levels. The annual event is held on the beach from Oak Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood. Hours are: 9:30 am – 5 pm on Saturday, and 10 am – 5 pm on Sunday.

Seashore House Tour

Tour 6 homes that capture the history of Long Beach Island and its renowned architects and architecture. The tour, which runs from 10:30 am – 4:30 pm, will feature houses chosen for their unique style, lush landscaping, dynamic interior décor and energy efficiency. Included are beach and bay front houses, old and new, modern and traditional. Tickets cost $45 and benefit the Long Beach Island Foundation.

Adaptive Surfing

Founded by world champion quadriplegic surfer Jesse Billauer, Life Rolls On gives anyone who wants to surf the opportunity to try the sport, regardless of their ability. From 9 am – 4 pm at Baker Ave. Beach in Wildwood, trained volunteers will help surfers into the water and assist while surfing. Adaptive surfboards and beach transfer wheelchairs are provided.
