The birds are chirping, flowers are budding and the temps are climbing once again, which means it’s time for spring – and time for a little home maintenance session. Add these items to your spring to-do list to get your home ready for the upcoming weather.

Clean your gutters
When was the last time you took a good look at your gutters? Leaving (pun intended) the gunk and debris and…well, leaves, of the winter months to sit in your gutters can lead to clogs and damage from overflowing water. So grab some gloves and get to cleaning.

Check that A/C
Those sunny days are going to start bringing warm weather, so make sure that A/C is working at its best to avoid sweating on the couch. Now is the perfect time to make an appointment to get your A/C checked by a professional, and if there are any repairs that have to be done, you’ll have plenty of time to take care of them before the high temps roll in. And while you’re at it, replace those filters.

Weathering windows
Speaking of high temperatures, when those hot days come around, the last thing we want is for our cool air to escape through loose windows. Do a review of the edges of your windows to check for any spaces air can leak out of, and fill those quickly.

Roof repairs
There’s nothing that can ruin a day quite like finding water in your attic. That’s why we always make sure to have our roof checked when spring rolls around. Keep an eye out for any loose or missing shingles or other damages that could lead to leaks.

Perfect pipes
And last, but certainly not least, add your pipes to that spring checklist. Frozen water in winter months can sometimes lead to cracked pipes, which can lead to leaks or bigger problems down the road – not to mention a high water bill. Do a once, or twice, check on your pipes to make sure they survived the winter in good condition.
