As Girl Scout cookie season approaches, youth scouts are staying busy. More than one dozen girls got the chance to step into the shoes of nurses this weekend. Their newly learned skills include taking a pulse and measuring blood pressure, which earned them two badges.
At the end of the program at Virtua Hospital, the girls were awarded the Nursing Exploration badge and the “Carol Mullin Girl Scout Nursing Initative” badge, an achievement in honor of the late Carol Mullin, a Virtua nurse who was very active in the Girl Scout community. They also had the chance to speak with Virtua nurses from many specialties to learn about the profession.
