State Senator Diane Allen (R-7th District) and State Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-7th District) have co-sponsored a resolution that urges Congress to recognize women’s rights hero and Mount Laurel native Alice Paul.
The resolution, SCR-95, asks Congress to posthumously award a Congressional Gold Medal, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Paul in recognition of her role in the women’s suffrage movement and in advancing equal rights for women.
In a statement released by Allen, she said Paul “has been an inspiration for women throughout the years and remains an outstanding role model for many people to this day.”
I hope Congress recognizes Alice Paul, a giant of the women’s rights movement. @AlicePaulInstit https://t.co/HOAH3vvsBP
