Things to Do in South Jersey this September

Temperatures are cooling, but the South Jersey fun is just heating up. Check out these events you won’t want to miss this month.  

 

Food & Music Festival 

September 6 

Dig into a variety of flavors while listening to live music, trying out family-friendly activities and browsing craft vendors as Wildwood’s Byrne Plaza transforms for the Food & Music Festival. The free festival runs from 2 to 8 pm. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Brews, Beats & Eats 

September 6 

Enjoy live music, food trucks and beverages as the Barrington Civic Association presents Brews, Beats & Eats. The event runs from 2 to 8 pm, with food trucks including Cousins Maine Lobster, Not Your Mama’s Tacos and more, and signature cocktails as well as beer and seltzers. Out in the Park Festival 

September 7 

Celebrate LGBTQ+ pride at this festival with performances all afternoon along the Cooper River. The free event runs from noon to 6 pm near the Camden County Boathouse. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Revolutionary War Encampment 

September 6 & 7 

War re-enactors bring the revolution to life for the weekend at Historic Cold Spring Village. Continental, Loyalist and Hessian troops will set up camp, demonstrate artillery and answer visitor questions. The event runs from 11 am to 4 pm, and is included with admission. Board Game Night 

September 12 

It’s game night at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Bring your own board game or try out one from a collection that includes Fox in the Forest, Wingspan, among many others. The 21+ event is BYOB and costs $15 per person. Game night runs from 7 to 10 pm. For more information, visit the website. 

 

BAYADA Regatta 

September 13 

Mark your calendars for one of the largest and longest-running para rowing events in the world – which is now happening in South Jersey. The races take place from 9 am to 3 pm on the Cooper River, and are open to the public. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Boardwalk Aerobatic Airshow

September 14 

Watch the skies over the Ocean City Boardwalk for a dazzling display of aerobatic tricks, displays and demonstrations performed by the best stunt pilots and aerobatic champions in the world. The event starts at 1 pm, and you can watch between 6th and 14th Streets, along the Boardwalk. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Merchantville Music Festival 

September 20 

Merchantville brings local bands, a DJ, food trucks and a beer garden to its downtown for an evening of fun. The free festival runs from 3 to 9 pm. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Autumn Sound Bath 

September 20 

Try a new way to find some inner peace with a sound bath at Grounds For Sculpture. The sculpture park is hosting the unique event inside the museum, and admission to the park is included with your event ticket. The event runs from 3:30 to 4:30 pm and tickets cost $25 for members and $35 for non-members. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Recovery Softball Tournament 

September 26 

Cheer on local recovery teams as they compete during the Camden County Commissioners and Addiction Awareness Task Force’s recovery softball tournament. The free event begins at 9:30 am at the Valleybrook Fields. For more information, visit the website. 

 

Delaware River Festival 

September 27 

Soak up some fun along the Delaware River as it comes alive with lots of water-themed activities for the whole family. Test your skills with a scavenger hunt, jump on pedal boats, get your face painted, take a ferry ride and do much more from 10 am to 4 pm at Wiggins Park in Camden. Dining in the Dark – Adventure Aquarium

October 2

Experience a night of fun and inspiration as Bestwork Industries for the Blind raises funds to launch a Blindness and Low Vision Services Center (BLVSC) The night begins with a cocktail reception and special access to the Penguin Experience and Shark Realm. Then, take part in Bestwork’s first Dining in the Dark event, where guests enjoy dinner while blindfolded, guided by staff and tablemates who are blind or visually impaired. This one-of-a-kind experience will heighten your senses and provide insight into the daily challenges faced by those with vision loss.
