Boo! South Jersey’s getting spooky just in time for Halloween. Celebrate with these (somewhat) haunted spots.
Cape May
Walk the halls of Cape May’s more-than-a-century old historic home with one of this month’s spooky tours. Hear from the home’s spirits during the Voices From Beyond tour, explore Victorian oddities – including Harry Houdini – on the Strange Victorian Obsessions tour and hop on the trolley to hear ghost stories while driving around town.
Wildwood
Play around a ghostly playground as the Greater Wildwoods Elks Lodge #1896 transforms into a frightfully gun haunted house for the whole family. Visit each themed room and receive treats along the way.
Woodstown
Climb aboard Salem’s ghost train to hear haunted tales of Salem City as told by storytellers from the Salem County Historical Society. The 18-mile roundtrip over Salem County’s first railroad line lasts 150 minutes and costs $33 for adults, $24 for children and $5 for toddlers. Check the website for schedule.
Fieldsboro
Things get extra haunted with public ghost hunts at Fieldsboro’s White Hill Mansion. With plenty of scandalous history, the mansion has plenty of stories to tell and you can search for them with professional ghost hunters. Private ghost hunts are also available.
Burlington County Prison Museum
Mt. Holly
For 154 years, inmates came through the Burlington County Prison Museum – with plenty of stories to be told for centuries to come. Walk the halls where prisoners carried out their sentences, learn why they were sent to the prison and even enter some of the cells where prisoners stayed. And visitors can try to make their own escape with the prison’s escape game.
Mullica Hill
Visit the state’s largest haunted attraction, with haunted paintball hayride and three different haunted experiences. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Creamy Acres offers a truly haunted experience from 6:30 to 9 pm.
Hammonton
Find your way through the haunted woods and the haunted maze at Miller’s Haunted Farm. The attractions are open every Friday and Saturday from 7 to 10 pm.
