It may be a little too cold for a beach day, but that doesn’t mean the Jersey Shore is done for the year. Check out some getaway ideas to plan the perfect weekend for everyone.

For the wine buff…

Cape May is known for its rich history and beautiful Victorian era architecture, but did you know it’s also a popular wine destination? Explore the peninsula by trying reds, whites, sparkling options and more at 7 wine locations: Cape May Winery & Vineyard, G&W Winery, Hawk Haven Vineyards, Jessie Creek Winery, Natali Winery, Turdo Vineyards & Winery and Willow Creek Winery.

For the holiday lover…

Holiday lights and sled rides and candy canes – oh my! Add some magic to the holidays down the Shore with activities like Ocean City’s house decorating contest, the Atlantic City Ballet’s performance of “The Nutcracker” and a holiday lights trolley ride in Cape May. Atlantic City is also hosting a winter wonderland parade on Dec. 2 and Ocean city has horse and carriage rides all season long.

For the history nerd…

Learning doesn’t have to be boring, especially when it’s done with a backdrop as gorgeous as the Jersey Shore.  Visit Cape May for tours about the shoretown’s popularity during the Victorian Era, complete with ghost tours and reenactors. Head to Atlantic City to tour the Absecon Lighthouse for tales of the sea dating back to the mid-1800s or stop by the African American Heritage Museum with exhibits portraying the African American experience through history.

For the budget-conscious…

Calling anyone balling on a budget…add the Jersey Shore to your list. And we’re not just talking about taking a walk on the Boardwalk (although that’s a great way to start your day). In Atlantic City, you can stop by the Noyes Arts Garage to see artists working in their studios or step back in time at Historic Smithville for shopping, a carousel and events like Girls’ Night Out on Dec. 7.

For the whole family…

Pack up the whole family, it’s time for some fun. Take to the seas and look for creatures with Cape May Whale Watcher. Or, pet sea creatures and watch an aquarium feeding at The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor (check website for schedule). If you’re up for a little friendly competition, hit the Atlantic City boardwalk to visit one of the many arcades on the boards.
