4 South Jersey Towns that remind us of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls

Grab your coffee, coffee, coffee and an obscure pop culture reference – we’re declaring it a Stars Hollow Fall. But make it South Jersey.

Team Jess for life.

Medford

We’re working on how to bottle the comfort of Stars Hollow – because work’s getting a little stressful – but until then, we’ll settle for a town that gives us that warm, fuzzy feeling. Enter Medford. It’s the perfect place to grab your coffee, throw on your y2k look and spend the weekend walking. We recommend starting at Medford Village, Main Street to be specific. Think log cabins, fall vibes and a soothing atmosphere wherever you go. And they even have a gazebo in the center of town!

Historic Smithville

Just like Stars Hollow, South Jersey’s Smithville has a storied past that is preserved at Historic Smithville. (Shoutout to the briefly lived Stars Hollow Museum.) But with reenactors (that aren’t mannequins), town buildings, shopping, restaurants, a lake and a carousel that looks like it trotted out of a storybook, this retelling of the past is much more impressive – and you could say more enjoyable – than Taylor Doose’s passion project.

Haddonfield

Grab this season’s love interest (or if you’re more of a Sookie, grab your Jackson) and take a stroll down Haddonfield’s main street. Friendly faces that make you feel at home, enough restaurants to outserve Al’s Pancake World and your choice of coffee shops to find the best cup of Joe. Surly yet dreamy diner owner who you can have a will-they-won’t-they relationship with for 4 seasons then fall in love with – not included.

Pitman

Stars Hollow has Miss Patty – and Pitman has its own theater lore that might just rival our favorite small town dance legend. Not only is the Broadway Theatre of Pitman just as fabulous as Miss Patty, with a bright marquis, 2 crystal chandeliers and the original pipe organ, but it also has hosted a number of big-name performers: Bob Hope, George Carlin, Bing Crosby, Abbott & Costello, The Flamingos, among others. And you can still see shows there, as the company puts on musicals and live performances throughout the year.
