Dearest readers, the summer of promenading for suitors and trading the latest ton gossip is here. But a proper regency era summer needs proper vibes – so we’ve got a list of South Jersey places you have to check out for a truly Bridgerton experience.
If we’re being historically accurate, Bridgerton is set in the regency era not the Victorian era. But for the purposes of a summer of vibes, we’re going to say close enough.
Washington Mall
Cape May
We can’t guarantee you’ll find the love of your life as you stroll down the Washington Mall, but you might fall in love with a new dress perfect for your next engagement. Admire the Victorian style facades with bright colors and quaint awnings as you browse boutiques, jewelry and more. As the day winds down, your suitor can accompany you for an ice cream and conversation around the fountain. (Disclaimer: eating ice cream in the real world doesn’t always look as good as in the Bridgerton universe).
Sayen House and Gardens
Hamilton
Put on your best look and set off for a promenade around the peaceful pond at Sayen House and Gardens. Stop to smell the flowers, admire the fountain from the adorable bridge, and you have to stop by the gazebo for an intimate moment with your betrothed or to get to know a little more about any interested suitors.
Prince Tea House
Princeton
High ceilings. Ornate chandeliers. Tea. What more can you ask for? Put on your best ruffles and bows and head to afternoon tea to discuss the latest issue of Whistledown over some scrumptious scones and soothing tea. Not to mention, it’s the perfect spot for a quick Insta photo shoot to make this season’s most eligible suitors turn their heads after you pop up on their feed.
The Painted Ladies
Cape May
Imagine a grand life as a Lady or Lord as you take in the elegant architecture and pastels of The Painted Ladies – Cape May’s row of brightly colored Victorian homes. Start at the intersection of Gurney St. and the Beach, then walk towards Columbia Ave., or sign up for one of the many tours that will introduce you to the Shore town’s beautiful buildings, like Cape May MAC’s Mansions by the Sea trolley tour.
