Former Eagle and America’s Got Talent contestant Jon Dorenbos will undergo open heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.

New Orleans Saints physician Dr. John Amoss discovered the defect – a genetic condition which Dorenbos was born with – during a physical that was required after the long snapper was traded by the Eagles to the Saints. Saints coach Sean Payton said Dr. Amoss “basically saved his life with his findings.”

While this means Dorenbos will be put on the non-football injury list for the time being, the Saints are also expected to rescind the trade which would have given the Eagles a 2019 seventh-round pick.
