The Mansion on Main Street: Elegance for Those Most-Important Occasions

Standing on exquisitely manicured grounds, surrounded by lush gardens and a large cascading waterfall, a couple in love might feel like they’ve found the perfect place to say, ‘I do.’ And in such beautiful surroundings, among family and friends, they could be anywhere in the world. But they could also be at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees.

You simply don’t need to travel far to find stellar execution, great food and a gorgeous venue.

The Mansion has been the South Jersey setting for some of the best days of people’s lives for more than 30 years. With 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor ceremony space, 3 opulent ballrooms, charming courtyards, a cocktail room and gazebo spaces – all gorgeously renovated in 2021 – the venue has the right space and setting for weddings of any and all sizes. It is also a destination for milestone celebrations including birthdays, vow renewals, baby and wedding showers, and large corporate events.

Jon Rubin, a partner at The Mansion who took over management in 2018, wants his guests to have peace of mind and a sense that something special is about to happen from the moment they walk in the door. “At The Mansion, everyone is a guest of honor,” he says. “Between the romantic setting and the world-class service, we want everyone to feel blown away.”

Save the date

Reflecting its popularity as a premier wedding destination, The Mansion is currently booking wedding dates through 2024. In the past, says Rubin, couples might take 18 months from engagement to walking down the aisle. Post-pandemic, however, he has seen couples steer clear of long engagements. For those looking to be engaged and married within the same year, he says, more couples are booking weekday weddings, a budget-friendly option for people at any stage of life.

“Whether guests are local or the bridal party is coming in from out of town, people are seeing they can have an awesome wedding during the week,” says Rubin. “When you’re in one of our ballrooms, with the music, the decorations, and the ambience of it all, you can’t really tell if it’s a Saturday night or a Monday night. All you know is you’re having the celebration of a lifetime.”

Putting on a show

To ensure couples have a wedding day where the focus is on each other, the event specialists at The Mansion listen carefully to couples during the planning phase, guiding them to pick one of the 3 ballrooms that best complement their theme, style, personality and budget.

“For couples with a love of the outdoors who want to bring in natural elements, we have rooms looking out to grounds that echo those found on a lavish estate,” says lead event specialist Samantha Garibaldi. “For couples embracing the traditional, The Grand Ballroom features a large dance floor with stunningly magnificent chandeliers.”

There are many Instagram-worthy spots for photos, so you can capture a romantic moment before the ceremony outside under a flowing willow tree or create a memory of your bridal party indoors on curved wrought-iron staircases surrounded by elegant marble. A newly renovated cocktail room offers a beautiful chandelier accented with more than 29,000 crystals.

And while the couple’s love is at the center of every event, Rubin also understands his clients’ sophisticated tastes. “We spend a lot of time focusing on the quality and presentation of the food, making sure everything is prepared to perfection,” he says.

Executive Chef Vahe Kafalmazyan has been at the helm of The Mansion’s kitchen for more than 15 years, creating varied catering packages that offer an impeccable experience for guests. To start off an event, guests can sip on signature cocktails that have been specially chosen just for the occasion and theme, enjoy butler-passed hors d’oeuvres or graze an overflowing spread of charcuterie boards with international cheeses, antipasto and tapenade displays. Cocktail hour enhancements can include everything from themed food stations like sushi and sashimi displays to slider and French fry bars.

Entrees include the finest beef, seafood and vegetarian options creatively conceived and executed by Chef Kafalmazyan. Desserts feature custom wedding cakes from Sunflour Bakery, as well as dessert stations offering culinary delights like bananas foster and cherries jubilee. After wishing the couple well and dancing the night away, guests might end the evening with to-go packages of local delicacies like soft pretzels, Philly cheesesteaks or pork roll sandwiches.

“We offer multiple packages and options for our couples. We want to make sure couples at all price points have something at the event that lets guests know they are having an ‘experience,’” says Garibaldi.

“At The Mansion, every event is a show,” adds Rubin. “Our customers are the audience, and we want to deliver.”

It’s all in the details

In creating magnificent events for up to 400 people, The Mansion team often works with outside event planners, but also provide every couple with a dedicated in-house detail specialist to execute the event flawlessly. According to Garibaldi, this specialist provides expert guidance and a roadmap for the day’s sequence of events. This includes preparing floor plans, seating charts and pre-event tastings, as well as acting as a point person for the couple’s vendors.

When the special day arrives, the details specialist handles behind-the-scenes items while an experienced maître-d and white-gloved professional servers set the tone for guests. “Our philosophy is that every couple feels taken care of,” says Garibaldi.

From A to Z, no matter the special occasion, The Mansion can handle it all, adds Garibaldi. “We’re a full-suite event space offering everyone a once-in-a-lifetime kind of day.”
