Steven Kirshner, MD
“My focus is always on the patient, through every step of the treatment process. I encourage them to ask questions, and I take the time to listen and explain every treatment option,” says Kirshner.
Kirshner, who has more than two decades of clinical and surgical expertise, has carefully staffed the Kirshner Spine Institute with an experienced team that shares his patient-centered philosophy. “My caring staff and I respect and treat every patient the way we would want our own family members to be treated,” he says.
By working closely with patients, Kirshner and his team are able to provide high-quality, individualized care that empowers and enables those with challenging injuries to return to the most normal, active lifestyle possible.
“I strive to use conservative treatments and opt for surgery only when absolutely necessary,” says Kirshner. “When surgery is the best option, we make every effort to use minimally invasive techniques that limit pain, reduce complications and enable patients to return to home, work and play much sooner.”
Kirshner’s surgical abilities are regularly praised by both his patients and his peers in the medical world. He has been recognized as an SJ Magazine Top Doc numerous times, and he’s often enlisted to train neurological and orthopedic spinal surgeons in the latest minimally invasive surgery techniques and technologies.
“I’ve trained neurosurgeons and other spine surgeons all over the world,” says Kirshner. “Last spring I spoke in Taiwan, and then last fall three surgeons from there came to my office to observe surgery and receive training from me. I’m very proud to educate them on techniques and procedures they can take back to help patients in their country.”
