SPECIALTY CARE 

While Dr. Rachel Levenbach is board certified in hematology and medical oncology, she specializes in breast cancer and gynecologic malignancies, having conducted clinical research in those areas during her residency and fellowship. In addition to her extensive medical knowledge and decades of experience, she brings to her practice the belief that the physician/patient relationship should go beyond medical jargon. “My patients become like family,” she says.   

WOMEN TREATING WOMEN 

As the first female doctor hired in her office over 20 years ago, Dr. Levenbach values the unique relationships she has with her female patients. “Women like to see women,” she says. “They have a tendency to just feel more connected. When they’re talking about their breasts or even just about day-to-day issues, it’s at times easier to connect with a woman who understands and who goes through similar experiences.” 

And that trustworthy communication with her patients is key. “The first time I meet a patient, I always tell them that whatever I say today, I’m going to explain and repeat multiple times. I tell them if they remember one thing I say at this first visit, it’s a win. And then we go through it again at each visit, because it’s a lot of information to take in.”

ON THEIR SIDE 

When Dr. Levenbach treats a patient, she makes sure they understand she is on their side. “I will always support them. I will always help them,” she adds. “They should never be afraid to ask me questions or tell me their concerns. We’re all on the same team. I’m here, and I will help in every way I can.”
