NorthStar VETS®

In a medical emergency, every second counts – even for your pets.

Pet owners now have access to round-the-clock emergency and speciality veterinary care at a state-of-the-art facility in Maple Shade. NorthStar VETS, an award-winning, American Animal Hospital-Accredited practice with headquarters in Robbinsville, has opened a satellite facility at the corner of Routes 73 and 38 to provide world-class urgent and advanced care for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotics in South Jersey.

“After a visit to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with my son, I was able to bring him to one of their satellite clinics near my home for follow-up care. The convenience of not having to travel far while continuing to receive care from the same team of specialists after my initial visit was tremendously valuable, and I wanted that level of care available for my own clients,” says Daniel Stobie, DVM, MS, DACVS, a surgeon and chief of staff and founder of NorthStar VETS.

“We have a lot of clients from South Jersey who come to our Robbinsville location, so it was important to me to open the satellite facility in Maple Shade so we could better serve them,” says Stobie. “The more southerly location gives people from the area faster access to critical care, and that can make a huge difference in outcomes. We are honored to be a part of the Maple Shade community and provide pets, pet owners and primary care veterinarians immediate access to our outstanding team of board-certified specialists, experienced emergency veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and compassionate support staff.”

Under Stobie’s leadership, NorthStar VETS has become one of only a handful of elite practices in the entire world to offer such a complete array of advanced veterinary services on site, including an in-house clinical pathology laboratory, dental suite, chemotherapy room, animal blood bank, recovery and ICU areas with radiant-floor heating and heated cages, and a special “comfort room” for pet owners to visit with their hospitalized animals.

The practice is staffed by board-certified, highly experienced veterinarians representing 18 different specialties, giving you a one-stop resource for medical and surgical care for your pet. No appointments are needed for emergencies, though pet owners can make appointments and get referrals from their family veterinarian for other specialized care.

“Every member of our team has an amazing level of expertise in their specialty and has training that goes above and beyond state requirements by leaps and bounds,” says Maple Shade Medical Director Joshua Portner, DVM, DACVECC. “We complement each other very well and work as a family to be effective for our patients and their owners, whether they’re coming to Maple Shade or Robbinsville.”

“The Maple Shade location is especially convenient for clients who come to us for recurring services, like oncology or internal medicine, where they have to come every week,” says Stobie. “Being able to see the same doctor, without having to make the trip to Robbinsville every week, is a huge convenience.”

Since the expert NorthStar VETS team rotates between both locations, clients are guaranteed intimate, personalized continuity of care, says Portner. “There is a fluidity between the two facilities – even the phone and computer systems are the same. This means that we have full access to every record and can instantly look at them no matter which facility we’re in. For instance, if I’m seeing a dog who needs surgery in Maple Shade, I can immediately access the X-rays that were done in Robbinsville and coordinate with the other doctors there.”

The Maple Shade facility was also designed and decorated to mirror the main hospital in Robbinsville, says Stobie.

“We want everyone to feel at ease and have the same outstanding experience at both locations. We made a conscious decision to make the Maple Shade facility look just like the Robbinsville facility – we want people who have been to both locations to feel comfortable and like they’re in a familiar environment as soon as they walk in the door.”

This unwavering commitment to providing unsurpassed medical care to each patient and attentive service to every pet owner and referring veterinarian has been a mainstay of NorthStar VETS’ philosophy since its inception more than 15 years ago.

“NorthStar VETS exists for the fundamental purpose of improving the quality of life of patients, clients, referring veterinarians and staff,” says Stobie. “Offering exceptional medical care, a higher than average staff-to-patient ratio for more personalized attention, and five-star service, we roll out the red carpet for everyone, striving to always provide the best experience possible.”
