Before Ian Caldwell, DMD, ever picked up a dental drill, he was a Rutgers economics major heading into an internship at a major financial firm. but a casual conversation with John Lenahan, DMD, – his family’s longtime dentist – set him on a very different path.

“He knew I loved working with my hands and woodworking, and he said, ‘I think you’d be happier in dentistry,’” recalls Dr. Caldwell. “It only took 15 minutes for me to realize he was right.”

That conversation led him to dental school – and to Staffordshire Dental, where he has been practicing for 17 years alongside Dr. Lenahan, the dentist who led him on this path. Dr. Caldwell is proud to carry on the tradition of patient-centered care that has defined the office since it opened in 1983.

Dr. Lenahan, who co-founded the practice more than 40 years ago, remains a steady presence. At 73, he continues to see patients fulltime, bringing with him decades of knowledge, calm confidence and a reputation that spans generations. “He truly enjoys the work,” says Dr. Caldwell. “He’s sharp, he’s steady, and he’s not slowing down.”

Dr. Joseph Gallelli joined the group 9 years ago, continuing a legacy established by his father, Dr. Pasquale Gallelli, who recently retired after more than 20 years with the practice. Like Dr. Caldwell, the younger Gallelli grew up around dentistry and shares the same commitment to long-term, quality care.
