How is your 2022 shaping up?

With July officially behind us, it’s time to face the facts: We’re now in the second half of 2022. While there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the rest of summer, we encourage you to slow down and check up on your financial well-being. Inflation, market volatility, and a looming chance of recession could also have you questioning your path this year. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

• Goals still the same for 2022?
Has market volatility affected your goals? Note any changes since the first of the year that may warrant reviewing your goals. For example, changes to your family, income, spending, business goals or health issues. Do you  want to be more prepared for a possible recession?

• Contributions on track?
Consider increasing your contributions to any personal or workplace-sponsored savings plans if it suits your goals.

• Scheduled spending still make sense?
Your spending habits likely look different now than they did in 2021, but did you adjust your yearly budget accordingly? Look at any impacts you’ve felt due to inflation. The second half of the year can be expensive, between the holiday season and back-to-school spending. Do your plans for the rest of the year align with reality?

• Any surprises in store for tax season?
Don’t wait until the end of the year to consider your tax situation. The earlier you start planning, the more opportunities you’ll have to reduce your taxes for you or your business.

With 2022 looking much different than last year, take some time to evaluate your financial picture.
