Josh Smargiassi

Josh Smargiassi and his colleagues at Boomerang are passionate about office furniture, and the company takes a dynamic approach to the full cycle of buying and selling furniture.

When a business is liquidated − whether it’s a Fortune 500 company or family-owned small business – all the office furniture needs to be removed from the property. That’s when Smargiassi steps in.

“We specialize in cleaning out multiple floors of furniture, selling it across the country, donating the things that are unsellable and refurbishing the rest of it in our facility,” Smargiassi says

The Kings College alumnus got involved in Boomerang nine years ago, following a career change. Since then, Smargiassi has expertly worked his way up from sales person to principal, and he’s now responsible for overseeing daily affairs at the facility in Pennsauken, as well as sales – which keeps him pretty busy.

“There’s a lot of organization and discussion in how to get things from point A to point B,” Smargiassi says. “If there’s a liquidation in Philadelphia of eight floors, there’s a lot of coordination.”

But all the organization and coordination is well worth it, Smargiassi says.

“I think the most rewarding part is when we’re able to save the client a lot of money,” he says. “It allows them to have a win-win scenario where they’re able to save money that they’re able to reinvest and also give them an atmosphere that is both aesthetically pleasing and very high-quality, so they’re not giving up anything to get savings.”

Smargiassi says he’s quick to ask a customer’s budget and let them know exactly what Boomerang can do at that price, instead of pushing the boundaries of a client’s budget.

“We really work with them on what they’re comfortable spending,” Smargiassi says. “We’re a small/medium family-owned business, so we understand the struggles that other businesses like us have.”
