When Anthony Mongeluzo and Michael Nelson first crossed paths in the early 2000s, both were young tech entrepreneurs eager to carve out niches in a rapidly growing IT sector. Though rivals at first – with Mongeluzo starting the customer-centric IT consulting firm PCS and Nelson at a competing company – they shared a vision for innovation that would eventually guide them to forge complementary paths.

As President of PCS, Mongeluzo stuck to his plan, leading the company to become a robust provider of managed IT services and business computer support for over 1,900 businesses. Nelson channeled his expertise into founding Cybir, which specializes in cybersecurity solutions. He is the company’s managing partner.

Their paths converged 12 years ago when Mongeluzo became a partner at Cybir. PCS and Cybir function as independent entities collaborating frequently, each sticking to their specialized areas. 

“The superpower of working with both companies is that Cybir is just doing cybersecurity, and PCS is doing your day-to-day IT managed services,” Mongeluzo says. “Many companies blur the line, but that could put your business at risk.”

PCS, which started in a modest office in Medford, is now in expansion mode. It has a significant presence in Burlington County and a national presence, with new offices in Boston, MA, and Sarasota, FL. “We still support the region so much, and we’re well known here, the company now has over 250 employees,” says Mongeluzo. “Aside from being the go-to company for small to mid-sized businesses in South Jersey, we’re scaling up in the U.S. and internationally.” 

Cybir offers a mix of proactive cybersecurity solutions and reactive incident response expertise. Nelson originally started his business as a digital forensics company but shifted in response to the growing complexity and cost of managing cybersecurity in-house, especially for smaller and mid-sized businesses. 

“We are where Anthony was probably 10 years ago when the market for IT managed services providers exploded,” he says, noting the increasing need to outsource cybersecurity so it is manageable and affordable.
