Cathy’s Catering: Personal touches create perfect events

After 33 years of catering special events for South Jersey folks who are celebrating a major milestone, Cathy Gunn knows the secret to a successful experience: the relationship she shares with her client.

“It’s the personal connection that makes all the difference,” says Gunn, who is hands-on for each and every occasion.

“We’re helping them realize their vision for the perfect event. Food is not only nourishment. It’s part of the joy and connection in our celebrations. After 33 years, catering is still my passion. When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life, and that’s so true.”

The business Gunn started in her kitchen in the early ’90s has now grown to one of South Jersey’s leading catering businesses. The award-winning caterer is known for creating love stories on plates at the weddings she caters, where her chicken stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto drizzle often steals the show. But it’s the details that really make the difference, and the attention Gunn pays to what each client wants.

“It’s not just ‘What’s on your menu?’ We help them realize their vision for the perfect event,” she says. “They’re working with me, and I love that part of what I do. We talk about what makes them happy, what they love, and then that’s what we bring to the table – literally.”

And while Gunn oversees each event they cater, she knows her team creates her strong foundation. “You’re nothing without a strong team, and we have that. Some of my employees have been with me for 15, 20 years. I have a great staff, and they are a big part of my success story,” she says.

Cathy’s Catering and Cathy’s Carryout Cuisine are a success by any standard. Cathy’s Catering has earned Best of SJ awards for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025. And she is a preferred caterer for Community House of Moorestown and The Collingswood Grand Ballroom, among others. Next year she will begin as a preferred caterer at Founder’s Grove in Magnolia.

“There’s a reason why Cathy’s Catering has been around so long,” Gunn adds. “People know how much I care about their event, because I truly do. I want every event to be perfect. There’s no better feeling when I know a bride, or a person celebrating a birthday, or a retiree, feels what we did for their event couldn’t have been any better. It’s what makes me happy, and why I still love this work, even after 33 years.”

Proud to be a Preferred Caterer at Community House of Moorestown The Collingswood Grand Ballroom Founder’s Grove in Magnolia (beginning 2026)
