Inspira Health

Building Healthier Communities

Warren Moore, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer

“In everything we do, it’s about the people. We’re working to make sure that care isn’t just available. It must be accessible to everyone who needs it.”

Warren E. Moore views regional health systems as much more than places to treat illness – they should serve as a gateway to excellent care for all residents, including those in underserved and remote areas. As Inspira Health’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Moore is committed to breaking down barriers so everyone in South Jersey has access to high quality healthcare close to home.

“In everything we do, it’s about the people,” Moore says. “We’re working to make sure that care isn’t just available. It must be accessible to everyone who needs it.”

That people-centered philosophy is driving Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill’s $240 million expansion. Less than five years after the health center opened, growing demand has prompted construction that will add 168,000 square feet by 2027. Plans include a new inpatient wing, advanced imaging facilities and enhanced spaces for Inspira’s growing cardiac and neuroscience programs. It adds a new simulation lab to train residents, as Inspira’s residency program grows to over 300 physicians annually – making it one of the largest training programs in the state.

Separately, the maternal and child health unit will double its capacity to keep pace with a 50% increase in births since the hospital opened in 2019.

Moore joined Inspira in 2021, as healthcare systems nationwide were grappling with the fallout from COVID.

“The pandemic exposed gaps in access to care, not just here but across the country,” Moore says. “But it also underscored why community health systems like Inspira are so essential. We’re here to treat patients but we’re also here to partner with our communities to improve their quality of life.”

Under his leadership, Inspira has made strides in addressing both immediate healthcare needs and broader social issues. The system has doubled its number of primary care providers in its physician group, expanded access to specialists and worked to address social drivers of health like housing, food security and education.

In Cumberland County, for example, Inspira collaborates with the Prosecutor’s Office to pair behavioral health professionals with law enforcement, connecting those in crisis to services as an alternative to the criminal justice system. At the same time, Inspira’s community health worker program links patients to critical medical and non-medical resources, such as housing and food assistance.

Inspira has also made safety a priority in a post-pandemic world. A cutting-edge workplace violence team now trains staff in de-escalation techniques and provides support to employees who experience violence from patients or visitors. “We’ve seen these incidents decrease here even as numbers rise across the country,” Moore says. “That speaks to the strength of our team and the programs we’ve put in place.”

He also highlights Inspira’s partnership with Rowan College of South Jersey which has helped nearly 700 Inspira employees take classes and earn degrees or certifications. The initiative addresses the region’s healthcare workforce shortage while creating opportunities for employees to advance their careers.

“When we invest in our employees, we’re building stronger communities,” Moore says.

Looking ahead, the Mullica Hill expansion reflects Inspira’s mission to provide care that’s both local and world-class. “Families shouldn’t have to leave their communities to find the services they need,” he says. “This expansion ensures that care is within reach.”

Moore credits Inspira’s growth to its dedicated team of 8,000 employees and its visionary volunteer Board of Trustees. “Their commitment has allowed us to dream big and deliver for South Jersey,” he says.

As Inspira embarks on its next chapter, Moore remains focused on the health system’s role in the community. “We’ve faced extraordinary challenges in recent years,” Moore says. “But we’ve also shown what’s possible when we work together.”
