2024 South Jersey’s FACE of Assisted Living

A senior community that feels like home

“The community life staff and the directors are charged with ensuring all residents are active and engaged based on domains of wellness… We offer spiritual, musical, intellectual, physical, occupational and much more. We host happy hour every Wednesday in the lobby and go out shopping, dining, attend festivals, you name it.”

Located in historic Collingswood, there’s a place where neighbors become friends, where wellbeing is woven into the fabric of daily life, and where seniors live the abundant, active and healthy lifestyles they have earned. Welcome to Collingswood Manor, a United Methodist Community (UMC), a nonprofit community open to seniors of all faiths.

Residents can be as independent as they want at Collingswood Manor. “We have people all the time who say, “I don’t want to mow my lawn anymore, and I don’t want to cook,’” says Angela Imperiale, CALA, CDP, Director of Sales and Marketing at Collingswood Manor. “They come for the food and the social opportunities. They have their car here, and they come and go as they please.”

The Assisted Living community also offers services for those who need more support. This includes access to 24/7 nursing staff onsite, speech services, physical and occupational therapy, and house calls by specialists from podiatrists to psychiatrists. It’s part of the high-quality experience that also includes a robust schedule of activities.

“The community life staff and the directors are charged with ensuring all residents are active and engaged based on domains of wellness,” says Imperiale. “We offer spiritual, musical, intellectual, physical, occupational and much more. We host happy hour every Wednesday in the lobby and go out shopping, dining, attend festivals, you name it.”

Residents who reside in assisted living have their own apartments, ranging from 447 to 593 square feet. Features like kitchenettes, large windows, ample storage and private baths with safety features offer luxury and peace of mind. Pets up to 25 lbs are allowed. Residents can cook but most opt to enjoy the wonderful food served on real china by the chef. “This is not hospital food,” says Imperiale. “We have mushroom and asparagus risotto with fresh salmon. In the summer, we hold barbecues every third Thursday and eat outside.”

“When we hold our discovery meetings to learn about our prospective residents,” she says, “we ask, ‘What’s most important to you in a retirement community?’ We are very focused on what they want.”

Imperiale extends a warm invitation for a visit. “We’re here every day and would love to show you around.”
